How do you recognise a Bompard cashmere?

As a fabric of great nobility, fine cashmere is renowned for its softness, fineness, suppleness, as well as its thermoregulatory and hypoallergenic qualities. But when faced with a plethora of products on offer, how do you distinguish a cashmere pullover designed by Eric Bompard from another cashmere garment? At first glance, the quality of the fibre, combined with the quality of the knitting, the creativity in colour and the expertise in knitting, is obvious.

How do you recognise a Bompard cashmere?

The collection of fibres

The collection of fibres

The fibres collected in this way are:

- The longest (from 36 to 40 mm);
- The finest (about 15 microns);
- The whitest.

The preparation of fibres: fulling

The preparation of fibres: fulling

The cashmere fibres which have been harvested and sorted in this way are cleaned, degreased and softened. They undergo several cycles of stirring with natural soap in large tubs.

The dyeing of fibres

The dyeing of fibres

The resulting fibres are ready to be dyed. Maison Bompard is committed to maintaining the integrity of the material by preferring to dye it in the mass before spinning. The stability and depth of the colours are then optimal.

Since the creation of the brand, the Eric Bompard workshops have developed more than 2000 exclusive or very rare colours (such as mottled pinks or blues), thanks to cutting-edge techniques developed by our teams.

From fibre to ply: spinning

From fibre to ply: spinning

Dyed, the fibres are ready to be spun: a dozen machines take turns spinning, achieved using the thousand-year-old cattail technique. The fibre becomes a ply of exceptional strength and softness.

From ply to knit: the twist

From ply to knit: the twist

To reinforce the strength of the fabric, the plies are twisted two by two. It is at this stage that the number of plies in a cashmere garment is determined: 2, 4, 8, 10, 14... For each knitwear its ideal knit and use.

The quality of the knit

In addition to the quality of its fibres, you can recognise a Bompard cashmere by the care given to the shape of the knit as well as its uniformity and finesse.

THE CREATIVITY OF KNITTING STITCHES

Ribbed, beaded, cable stitch, Intarsia, Milano, brushed cashmere, pointelles... For nearly 40 years, French cashmere brand Maison Eric Bompard has been relentlessly perfecting its expertise in knitting cashmere wool.

Thanks to the unique knitwear stitches, our collections are both timeless and varied. Our garments are exceptionally sensual to offer you unique sensations.

This creativity, which enhances an exceptional material, is nurtured by the director of our design office, Carolyn Randolfi. Having worked at Chanel, Prada, Kenzo and Ralph Lauren, this brilliant Franco-British designer is one of the world's leading experts in knitwear.

EXCEPTIONAL KNITTING EXPERTISE

When knitting, the knit is twisted so that the ply is exactly the same diameter as the eye of the needle: this is known as the twining technique. When the knit is very tight, the garments are soft, durable, warm, surprisingly supple and long-lasting.

To reduce waste, our workshops have developed machines that can knit to the exact shape required. No superfluous materials are used.

ULTRA-RARE SAVOIR-FAIRE: EXTRAFINE

To make its iconic Extrafine cashmere, French cashmere brand Maison Bompard employs a cutting-edge technique that is very rarely mastered on the market, which makes it possible to create a fabric capable of combining softness and freshness, density, and finesse, elegance, and lightness

The quality of the weave

All Eric Bompard stoles are warp-woven and woven with an extrafine ply. Chevron, double face weaving, double face jacquard… Different types of weaving are used depending on the desired effect.

Our stoles are another expression of one of the best luxury cashmere brand’s excellence. Each cashmere voile is made on a loom with a ply of extreme fineness and length.

The exquisite fabric obtained allows us to make stoles of exceptional lightness and softness, which protect against the cold of winter as well as the strong heat of summer.

Nothing in the manufacturing process is left to chance. Finishing is executed entirely by hand, using artisanal techniques. Re-embossing for an impeccable finish, invisible seams on the cuffs, belts and collars... Every detail is taken care of and checked during quality control for each piece.

COLLABORATIONS WITH THE BEST FRENCH CRAFTSMEN

Lace, guipures, leather belts, buttons... Maison Bompard collaborates with the best French cashmere craftsmen. Our wish: that each detail tells a unique story, while following the Made in France tradition.
