Ora-ïto, an inspired partnership with the Maison Bompard

The prodigious designer Ora-ïto has long shared a special connection with Bompard as he has worn the brand’s wonderful cashmere products for years. Inspired by his early success in virtual fashion accessories, Ora-ïto has collaborated with the Maison Bompard design team, resulting in a co-signed collection after nearly a year of dedicated work. This collection introduces Ora-ïto’s first steps in the world of ready-to-wear fashion. A new logo was designed, to start a long-lasting relationship between the two brands.

Ora-ïto x Bompard, more than just a partnership

Ora-ïto is the future. But a future that's wearable and in tune with the times. This collection of some twenty cashmere items has been conceived as a coherent, authentic whole, like a new futuristic classic, far removed from the effects of fashion. Its sober aesthetic has been a favorite at Eric Bompard for almost 40 years.

Eric Bompard, the exceptional cashmere expert

The objective was to craft a gender-less collection that plays with traditional norms and resonates with people of all backgrounds and all times. With the increasing overlap between home and work environments, Ora-ïto offers a partial solution, blending the luxurious comfort of cashmere, the power of bold lines, and the simplicity of pure design.

Among the collection's key pieces, all 100% cashmere, are a dress with graphic curves, pants and a reversible jacket for indoors. Ora-ïto wanted relaxed things, socks, mittens, masculine pieces that he could wear and where we recognize his architectural writing. Under the guidance of Carolyn Randolfi, the creative team reached remarkable technical achievements in developing the Ora-ïto x Bompard collection.

“I really wanted to make the most of the material, to take knitwear where it had never been before, to explore all its possibilities.”

The inspirations of the collection

"Concerning the collection’s inspirations, it was drawn from the female body and Le Corbusier’s Modulor architecture. The beige color is inspired by the MaMo, Ora-ito’s art center, and the color palette reflects the influence of the Cité Radieuse. The collection’s voluminous language reflects Ora-ïto’s architectural background and Bompard’s eco-conscious approach to material usage. The collaboration yields exquisite products with couture finishes, displaying intricate details and employing intarsia techniques, epitomizing an understated yet luxurious aesthetic", explain Ora-ïto.

The launch campaign

The campaign for the Ora-ïto/Bompard collection was filmed at MaMo (Marseille Modulor Museum), the art center created by Ora-ïto in 2013 on the rooftop of Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse in Marseille. The campaign beautifully illustrates Ora-ïto’s modernist, structuralist, and visionary inspirations. It is an integral part of the first chapter of the new partnership between the designer and Bompard.
